Osvaldo Mercado MD
Osvaldo Mercado (he/him) is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a dual fellow in neonatal perinatal medicine and clinical informatics at CHOP. He is also working on completing a Master’s in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania.
As a Mexican-American and the first in his family to attend college and become a physician, Dr. Mercado is passionate about leveraging technology to improve health care, particularly for underserved communities. His current research focuses on using artificial intelligence and large language models to enhance the accuracy and delivery of translated materials for patients. He is also committed to promoting equitable access to language services and actively mentors underrepresented physicians in medicine.
Dr. Mercado earned his bachelor’s degree in physiological sciences from University of California, Los Angeles, completed medical school at Howard University College of Medicine, and was a pediatric resident at CHOP, where he continues his advanced training.
